An Evening of Wonders

About

Parlour Arabesque explores the idea of Leighton house as a work of fiction; a twisting narrative structure echoing the tales of the Arabian nights. A number of contemporary artists shall produce site-specific performance works reflecting the whispers of exotic mystery and far-off lands which the house exudes, immersing the audience in an atmosphere of hidden wonders. Leighton house is a space for dreaming; a landscape both familiar and ethereal. It is in this capacity that the artists shall engage with the space, teasing meaning and metaphor out from within the walls; translating the atmosphere of the house into active haunting presence. Leighton House Museum is the restored former home of the artist Frederic, Lord Leighton and houses a large permanent collection of Pre-Raphaelite art. The Parlour Collective is a group of international artists dedicated to exploring the mythologies and memories of the spaces they inhabit. They produce shows in historical locations and museums throughout Europe; inviting their audience to engage with immersive imagined histories.
