Paraíso is an immersive cosmic installation about escaping reality.
About
The entrance area of Galeria Melissa features hanging stars and against giant video screens, while a larger space in the basement houses mirrored walls and pillars and even more hanging stars.
The entrance space video shows a surreal desert world, with heat rising from every surface and glistening shards in ever-changing colours.
“I've been reading Vermillion Sands by JG Ballard & the imagery has greatly influenced this project, "The skies are larger, the air more generous, the clock less urgent.
Through the creation of the video and corresponding installation, I want to transmit a feeling of other-worldliness as you enter the Galeria.” – Natalia Stuyk
Paraíso, an installation by Natalia Stuyk was held at Galeria Melissa New York City last year were over 40,000 people visited the Galeria to take a cosmic themed selfie. As the installation was so popular, it was decided that the installation would be brought to Galeria Melissa Covent Garden where Londoners and tourists alike can experience it too.
Paraíso by Natalia Stuyk is open now and will be at Galeria Melissa Covent Garden until 31st January.
