Espacio Alexandra is pleased to present a new exhibition by Spanish artist Laura Escallada Allende, who places the observation of nature in the centre of her practice.
About
After pursuing the practice of stillness, Escallada Allende feels that things may evolve by themselves in a natural way, that ‘the image of a flower manages to represent a vital cycle that is effortless in its growth, and naturally maintains its harmony and principle’. This type of contemplation may produce a somatic decline, and in order to avoid the agony of the body, she uses visual expressiveness and play, studying the movement of hands and of the body. All of this merges with painterly brushstrokes of natural elements of flora and fauna, emphasising the importance of the conservation of our essence.
Laura Escallada Allende (Santander ES, 1982) is an artist, teacher and cultural manager in the realm of the visual arts. She studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country (ES) and the University of Hertfordshire (UK). Very active in the local art scene of Santander, where she has shows her work in galleries, art fair Artesantander, and collaborates with numerous collectives and urban art festivals, such as “Desvelarte”.
