Explore the potential of paper cutting, folding and construction techniques to create your own unique sculptural forms with paper artist Richard Sweeney.
About
The five day course Cut, Fold, Construct is held at West Dean College of Art, Chichester, England as part of the Immersive Art Week, 24 to 28 August 2025.
For booking, visit the West Dean website
The emphasis of the course is to provide you with the skills required to shape paper into three dimensional forms, which may be applied as a model making tool in disciplines such as jewellery and architecture, or as an activity in its own right to produce abstract, sculptural forms in paper.
Richard will deliver hands-on demonstrations from the outset, covering the basic techniques of paper manipulation, including curved folding, pleating and modular form making. Once the basic techniques are grasped you may choose to realise a paper sculpture of your own, which may be as ambitious as time allows.
A shorter weekend course will be held 12-15 February 2026 at West Dean
