There’s more to comics than you think!

About

Panel Show is seven-week exhibition showcasing the incredible world of comic books, graphic novels and sequential art. With a wide range of work from across genres, the show demonstrates the extraordinary possibilities and potential of an increasingly popular medium that has had a profound effect on contemporary culture.

The show features original artwork and prints by around forty acclaimed artists. It also explores some of the processes they use to develop their finished pages, including pencils, inked pages, thumbnails, layouts and concept designs.

You will get unique insights into how comics are created, and discover adventurous new work from both the mainstream and further afield.

So whether you’re totally new to comics, remember reading the Beano and the Dandy as a child, or have your own extensive library of graphic novels, you’ll find something to surprise and delight.

The show includes the work of artists like Una (Becoming Unbecoming), Jade Sarson (For the Love of God Marie!), Dean Ormston (Black Hammer), Tillie Walden (On A Sunbeam), Paul Trevillion (Roy of the Rovers), Jacky Fleming (The Trouble With Women), Mawil (Kinderland), Darryl Cunningham (Scinece Tales, Billionaires), Luke Pearson (Hilda), Steve Beaumont (How to Draw Graphic Novles), Jonathan Edwards (21st Century Tank Girl) and many more.

The exhibition is accompanied by a series of interactive workshops, artist talks, book launches and opens with a special event at the Gallery on 21 Sept.

It has been co-curated by Si Smith (How To Disappear Completely) and Dick Bonham (LittleMighty). Funded by Leeds Inspired.
