With panellists Adelaide Bannerman, Freelance Project Manager/Curator; Kate Macfarlane, Co-director, Drawing Room; and Barbara Walker, artist. Chaired by Professor Anita Taylor, Director Jerwood Drawing Prize and Executive Dean of Bath School of Art & Design at Bath Spa University.

Adelaide Bannerman is a freelance project manager/curator based in London. Her research interests are focused on highlighting the performative gestures and responses in live and visual performance art – referencing individual and collaborative practices and also choreographed movements in public and private space.

Kate Macfarlane is a curator and writer and co-founder and co-director of Drawing Room, London. Recent exhibitions include Graphic Witness, The Drawing Room; Line, Lisson Gallery, London; and Dove Allouche – Mea Culpa of a Sceptic, The Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris. She is contributing a chapter to A Companion to Contemporary Drawing, which will be published by Wiley Blackwell in 2018.

Barbara Walker is an artist who currently lives and works in the UK. Her paintings and drawings of the human figure open up a dialogue with viewers about race identity, belonging, class, power and the politics of how we look at others. She is the recipient of the Drawing Room Bursary Award (2017) and the Millennium Awards, Birmingham (2000). Residencies include Drawing Room, London (2017), Palazzo Pisani a Santa Marina, Venice (2017), The International Curators Forum, in partnership with University of the Arts London (2016-2018), James Hockey Gallery, UK (2015), The Bag Trust, Johannesburg, South Africa (2008), and Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa (2006).
