Joan paints places she would like to be and relates to; either well-known or imagined. She is inspired by the Victorian and Edwardian periods as well as painters such as Constable, Turner and Monet. She often includes water, boats and people; composing scenes intuitively.
Susan also works intuitively; likening her paintwork to sculpture, in which elements are treated three dimensionally, considering the environment as well as the balance and feel of the whole.
The complementary opening event will include a talk by Joan at 3 o'clock and an informal discussion by Susan at 4. Joan will given an additional demonstration on Saturday 5 May (12 - 4 pm)
