The Riverside Café Gallery is thrilled to invite four contemporary painters to exhibit from London and across the UK. The group exhibition showcases Helen Bermingham, Esme Dollow, Tom Down and Neill Fuller.
About
The artists use painting as a platform to invite the viewer into another illusory world within the canvas. Although ‘still-life in conception and resolutely studio-based, the choice of subject matter and stage-like setting allows allusion to external spaces where other illusory, fictional or escapist experiences occur – the fairground, the playground, the theatre, the world of the scaled down model.” (Neill Fuller)
The paint in all four practices acts as a portal into another dimension, creating dialogues between fiction and reality, truth and façade along with building a narrative between each other’s work.
“Painting Worlds gives a strong emphasis on the objects depicted within the paintings, and draws us into the forgotten ‘world’ that they now inhabit. This representation allows us to consider these disregarded items in more detail, and reflect upon the significance these items once had, and how they can evoke specific memories for the viewer.” (Esme Dollow)
