Inspired by our exhibition Howard Hodgkin: Painting India, work with textile artist Harriet Lawton to create a series of drawings, sample colour strips and a final textile collage piece.
About
Textile artist Harriet Lawton guides you in exploring Howard Hodgkin’s paintings and transferring his use of colour and mark making to build your own textile compositions.
Through collage, transfer dyes, hand embroidery and couching, you will create a series of drawings, sample colour strips and a final textile collage piece.

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Harriet Lawton creates design pieces and art objects that interpret traditional marks, patterns and motifs from various cultures and eras. Her work plays with illusion and scale; crossing materials, techniques and surfaces. She studied Embroidery at Manchester School of Art and has exhibited widely across the country. She was artist in residence for The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in 2015.
