“It is impossible to make paintings of any sort now without an internalized vocabulary of twentieth-century abstraction”
Paul Winstanley
About
Painting The In-Between is a group exhibition featuring new works by six painters who are all making representational paintings and yet for whom the formalist concerns of abstraction are a cornerstone of their practice. The exhibition features recent works by Marco Cali, Alex Hanna and Cara Nahaul, from the Contemporary British Painting Group, and Tom Palin, April Virgoe, and Richard Baker, who are staff at Leeds Arts University. The exhibition has been conceived and curated by Richard Baker and Marcus Cali.
A panel Discussion will take place in the gallery space with the artists.
