Bringing together the work of artists inspired by the northern landscape, Painters Outdoors: Plein Air in the North, showcases work created directly from nature in the open air, or ‘en plein air’.
About
Connecting with the landscape and capturing the moment is shown to be the foremost subject of artistic enquiry, with the strength and vitality of every brushmark visible in all works.
Curated by plein air artist Stuart Jones, historical works held in Tees Valley Museums’ collections are presented alongside contemporary works by plein air artists; David Curtis ROI RSMA, Haidee-Jo Summers ROI ARSMA, Stuart Jones, Andrew Farmer AROI, Susanna Heath and Chris Slater.
