Pad Loves is a new feature for 2010. Whilst we love showcasing the work of the fantastic designers and artists based in the Northwest the team also wanted an opportunity to show some really special work by their favourite creative practitioners from further afield or whose work wouldn't normally feature in a gallery like ours! Call into Pad Loves and see the fabulous lighting by one the UK's leading lighting designers, Claire Norcross. Claire was Head Lighting Designer at Habitat, won the Elle Decoration ‘Best in Lighting' award for her Ribbon light in 2006, and was recently commissioned to produce Bloom 296 for the Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition, London, 2009. Also exhibited are a number of Ruth Ramsdale's recent prints. Ruth has worked through many disciplines, trained as a sculptor, and have more recently rediscovered printing. I am obsessed by experimenting with different materials and creating texture. These prints began as drawings that have developed into screen prints. The image has been printed onto various different fabrics before being cut, stitched and padded to create layers and texture. Some of the prints have been made using a screen to mono-print, creating a one-off image of many colours."
