Dr Stephen Cornford
Senior Lecturer in Fine Art:
"The demographic of artists graduating at this exhibition reflects the globalised world that they have grown up in. While their roots may be largely in the UK, their origins and the relationships they have formed over the last three years reflect the multicultural diversity of this home: they hail from Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Pöytyä and Durban as well as Maidstone, Saddleworth, Warwick and Oxford. And this diversity is equally reflected in their preoccupations and practices as it is visible in an exhibition which, by aggregating their individual achievements, hopes to demonstrate that together we can make something more nourishing than that which we make alone. And it is this that most accurately reflects the ethos of the degree course which has brought them together. The value placed in each individual voice, but the knowledge that it is only through community that we develop."
The show continues in the Richard Hamilton Building on the other side of the road.
