Tucked away in East Oxford, the OX4 Life Drawing Group has been quietly capturing the human form for over half a century. Formerly known as the East Oxford Drawing Cooperative, the group began life around 1970 as a grassroots initiative providing local people with a space to draw and create. Over the years the group has grown in strength and in number; this exhibition showcases 21 artists contributing an impressive range of media: graphite, charcoal, ink, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, each presenting the human figure in its own compelling way. The collection captures not only technical skill but also diverse emotional responses—from quiet introspection to bold, expressive forms.

For the artists, exhibiting life drawing in a public show transforms a private practice into communal celebration. Visitors are invited to reflect on the role of the human form in contemporary art and to witness first-hand the thoughtful observation and creative experimentation that resonates through this selection of artwork. Admission is free and some works are for sale.
