The Stone Space is pleased to present âOutlines', an exhibition of new work by artist Gillian Swan.
âOutlines', the Stone Space's second exhibition for February 2012, will present a selection of work by artist Gillian Swan. Working with paper and card to produce three dimensional constructions, Swan's work references the built environment of the southern part of the borough of Waltham Forest. By exploring the loss of homogeneity in the traditional architecture of the area, Swan sets out to challenge the notion that alterations should always be considered negatively and questions the instinct to see successive change as degradation of the original, Past work has imagined satellite dishes as constellations of stars and âOutlines' will include new pieces that focus on ornamental moldings and the accidental embellishment of the built environment resulting from the removal of graffiti.
