Elephants of Amboseli, a trio of vultures poised on a branch, and a diminutive desert chameleon tiptoeing across the Namib sands form part of a new photography exhibition at the Fitzrovia Chapel.
About
The April exhibition, Out of the Grey, features exquisite large-scale, black and white fine art images by London-based wildlife photographer Martin Sean.
In breathtaking group shots and intimate, emotional close-ups, the show features images from Africa, Asia and both Polar regions. Martin’s portfolio has embraced both underwater photography and a wide range of nature and wildlife photography as he explores every corner of the globe. The ornate, baroque Fitzrovia Chapel, previously part of the former Middlesex Hospital, provides an impressive backdrop to the monochrome exhibition and a haven of quiet contemplation.
Martin Sean says: 'Out of the Grey is my escape from the gloomy cage of ordinary existence, out into the vivid, extraordinary world of the wilderness. Each photograph is a symbol of my odyssey around our threatened, delicate globe. It is a privilege to see these mesmerising creatures in the wild. By sharing these once-in-a-lifetime experiences, I can show how precious our vanishing ecosystems are to everyone. This is just the beginning.'
Faye Hughes, Artistic Director, the Fitzrovia Chapel, says: ‘Exhibitions at the chapel have often focused on the unexpected and the concealed. Martin’s reflective black and white images take us along an often hidden path into the very private world of animals. The results are both stunning and unanticipated.’
