Paradise Works is delighted to present 'Out of Place', a solo exhibition by
Zurich based artist Sam Porritt.
About
Preview: Thursday 7th November 6pm – 8pm, with donations bar.
Exhibition Opening hours: Saturday 9th, 16th & 23 rd November, 12-5pm and by appointment.
Dark humour, economy of means and precision are hallmarks of Porritt's practice. For 'Out of Place', Porritt presents a dynamic new installation informed by contemporary concerns of displacement, surplus and need. Using a restrained portfolio of materials and construction techniques, this new site specific work sees Porritt return to Paradise Works following 2018's Tipping the Scales with Show.me.up.
Porritt has shown internationally in galleries, institutions and triennials including: Museum Bellpark, Kriens, CH; CIRCUIT, Lausanne, CH; CAN, Neuchâtel, CH; SALTS, Basel CH; PEER, London, UK; South London Gallery, London, UK; Fondation d’entreprise Galeries Lafayette, Paris, FR; c.o.m.p.o.s.i.t.e, Brussels, Belgium; MOK, Rotterdam, NL; Toves, Copenhagen, DK; Living Art Museum, Reykjavik, IS; MONA, Tasmania, AUS; 17th Tallinn Print Triennial at EKKM, Tallinn, EE; and VITRINE, London, UK and Basel, CH.
His work is held in public and private collections in the UK and abroad. Porritt is represented by VITRINE, London and Basel. Out of Place is kindly supported by the Swiss Cultural Fund UK and Arts Council England.
