About
A group of female artists, illustrators and singers, from the UK and Sierra Leone, have come together with international development charity WaterAid, to create Out of Order; an exhibition exploring the impact a lack of decent toilets has on 1 in 3 women across the globe, to mark World Toilet Day (19 November)
Toilets are a feminist issue. Better health, education and gender equality cannot be achieved without ensuring every woman and girl has access to a toilet, no matter what their age, physical ability or community.
Eve Lloyd Knight, Emma Shoard, Molly Fairhurst and Nina Cosford – are taking over toilet cubicle installations to examine the issues women living in some of the world’s poorest communities face without access to proper toilet facilities. Freetown-based artists Josephine Dauda and Hawa Bangura show how these issues are affecting women every day in Sierra Leone, where currently 85% of women, do not have access to a toilet.
