Once a year the Kunstverein Tiergarten has conceived and organized the Moabit art festival ortstermin. On three days, artists from the district open their studios and organize exhibitions on the respective theme of the year.

r e s e t is this year’s theme of the Moabit Arts Festival and places the artistic and social handling of crises at the centre of its exploration. “Reset” stands for a process that resets an electronic device to its factory settings. At the same time, the term serves as a metaphor and an occasion to question and change the economic shifts, the worsening ecological situation and the precarious state of social interaction. Is this r e s e t possible at all, and if so, who defines the zero point?
At 94 locations, about 200 artists and cultural workers open their studios, project spaces, galleries, cafés or occupy public space. They present exhibitions, events, workshops and concerts or call for active participation in order to question their own as well as the community system, to seek solutions or simply to take a stand with their art.
The new ortstermin 21 team has used the theme to reintegrate performing arts into the festival and form new networks. One week before the opening, the festival hub will be launched at Galerie Nord. All participants are invited to attend events, exchange ideas or find out about the festival program.
ortstermin 21 is cooperating for the first time with the art festivals 48h Neukölln and artspring Pankow to promote the position of the festivals in Berlin‘s cultural landscape and thus becomes a cross-district platform. Neukölln and Pankow artists will present performances on a modular object located next to the design studio ON/OFF group, at the festival hub and in Moabit‘s urban spaces. This stage will continue to move throughout the year and call for artistic exchange between the districts until ortstermin 22.
