To celebrate 30 years of Oriel Myrddin Gallery, we have invited creatives from Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, to submit work for our OPEN Exhibition.

About

Showcasing a diverse range of work by local, established and emerging talent, the OPEN is our way of offering thanks and giving back to our wonderful community who have supported us over the past 30 years. Most of the art works are for sale, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase work by a rising star and to support an independent artist.

Our selection panel are Julia Griffiths Jones, Robyn Tomos and Neil Confrey.

Julia Griffiths Jones is an award - winning artist - maker, who studied at the Royal College of Art and is best known for her drawings of textiles which she translates into steel wire and enamel. Her Work has been recently purchased by the Metalwork Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Museum of History, St. Fagans.

Robyn Tomos, until recently was the Visual Arts Officer at the National Eisteddfod. In this capacity he facilitated the festival’s annual Open Exhibition and organised designated exhibitions, events, and activities. He is a practising artist and an active member of Visual Arts Group Wales. Robyn has lately established Twitter accounts Newyddion Celf and Celf News to offer an independent view on the visual arts in Wales and beyond.

Neil Confrey is a mental health law solicitor whose firm has commissioned art since 1996 for use as the image on firm’s Christmas card to clients. Neil is a trustee of Oriel Myrddin, a director Butetown Artists/BayArt, Cardiff, and has run an occasional, peripatetic gallery Oriel Ci Melyn which has had shows in various venues since 2001. He was a member of the CASW executive committee and the purchaser of art for CASW in 2005/6. He has commissioned a portfolio of prints for CASW in support of the year of the artist 2001.

Oriel Myrddin Gallery would like to thank Julia, Robyn and Neil and everyone who submitted work whether they were selected or not.
