Working with movement, thought and atmosphere, this event will involve the re-performance of lost or failed works by Jamila Johnson-Small
About
an opening / a break / a gap / a crack /a hole / a disappointment / a space / an unknown
This will be the first of Jamila Johnson Small's openings for sharing research at Siobhan Davies Dance.
These events seek to create the conditions for engaging with the potential that performance has to access unknown territory within and through a dancing body, the space it inhabits and the people sharing that space. Working with movement, thought and atmosphere, this event will involve the re-performance of lost or failed works from Jamila’s back catalogue.
Jamila’s research is around technologies for survival and anti-assimilationist practice in dance and performance, attempting to find frames around modes of being in space as spectators and art-watchers.
