About
The Old Operating Theatre Museum hosts Operations of Sound, a sonic and visual intervention curated by Inheritance Projects. This exhibition and events programme is a site of exploration of the museum through contemporary artworks. The installation, video and performances create radically different aural and visual contexts through which one engages with the museum's architecture and collection.
Installation:
Inheritance has commissioned the new work FLOW by photographer, John Wainwright and sound artist, John Wynne. FLOW, a multiscreen video and sound installation has been developed specifically for the museum using material from the artists' residency at Harefield Hospital. FLOW is to be discovered amongst the museum's collection of surgical instruments and material medica in the Herb Garret.
Film Programme: Saturdays from 15.00 ' 17.00
As part of Operations of Sound events programme, Tim Wainwright and John Wynne's video work ITU will be screened with surround sound in the tiered operating theatre.
Closing Event: Saturday 15 December 20.00
Operations of Sound closes with commissioned performances by the legendary percussionist Charles Hayward (This Heat) and the American experimental quartet, GOWNS. Their musical performances are in direct response to the environment, addressing the theatricality and delicacy of surgical operations. Tickets £8 from www.wegottickets.com
