About
Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is buzzing: a new artistic director for the Volksbühne; protests and arrests at the memorial event for Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg - and now a new gallery that is adding to the art scene in Berlin-Mitte. Galerie Gegen & Lücke, a space for contemporary art, opens in March and complements the variety of existing art spaces around the square.
The opening show presents a comprehensive group exhibition of all the artists that the gallery will represent in the future: Elisa Breyer, Lars Fischer, Esther Grüne, Björn Heyn, Fabian Hub, Kevin Lüdicke and Anna Zachariades.
The focus is on young talents from the disciplines of painting and sculpture. In addition to long-term and sustainable support for its artists, Galerie Gegen & Lücke also aims to be an open space that provides direct access to art.
The location expands Culterim GmbH's existing art mediation offering, which already provides a sustainable infrastructure for artists with studio communities, artist-in-residence programs and the Independent Class. Despite the ubiquitous lack of spaces for artists, Culterim has succeeded in making vacant spaces usable for artistic work since it was founded in 2021. The gallery will reinvest its profits in Culterim's existing projects and thus contribute to the financial promotion and sustainable strengthening of Berlin's cultural scene.
The opening show does not need a pretentious title - because that is exactly what it is: an uncomplicated introduction to the gallery's accessible program, which will be continuously expanded in the coming years.
