To celebrate its ongoing commitment to performance, DRAF opens a dedicated live projects space. The expansion occupies a 250 sq m converted industrial loft with original wooden rafters within DRAF’s London building.
The opening evening on 24 September includes performances Get Out of My Mind, Get Out of This Room (again), 2015 by artist and choreographer Alex Baczynski-Jenkins and the UK premiere of choreographer Stina Nyberg’s Splendour, 2014.
Since its foundation in 2008, DRAF has championed performance at the centre of its programme, presenting live work by iconic international figures including Phillip Glass, Rodney Graham, Pierre Huyghe, Sarah Lucas, Bruce McLean, Laure Prouvost, Steve Reich and Pipilotti Rist. It has supported emerging artists by commissioning performances by Nina Beier, Keren Cytter, Michael Dean, Eloise Hawser, Lina Lapelyte, Maria Loboda, Eddie Peake, Megan Rooney and Cally Spooner.
DRAF Studio is supported by Arts Council England and DRAF Galleries Circle (Sadie Coles HQ, Pilar Corrias, Marian Goodman, Hauser & Wirth, Kurimanzutto, Lisson Gallery, The Modern Institute, Stuart Shave Modern Art, Sprüth Magers, Michael Werner, White Cube).
Stina Nyberg, Splendour is supported by the Swedish Arts Council.
Stina Nyberg will also be hosting a day of live creation and performance on Friday 25 Sept.
