Opening: Joaquín Lalanne "The Fragility of the Stage"

On the occasion of Barcelona Gallery Weekend 2019, Galería Zielinsky is pleased to present “ e Fragility of the Stage”, a set of paintings and interventions by the artist Joaquín Lalanne.
The opening will take place on Thursday, October 20, at 7:00 pm.

The artworks exhibited have been created in the last year, and illustrate the artist’s imagination, a world filled with recognizable icons but taking forms never imagined before. Alfredo Abián describes such a scenario: “Lalanne paints imaginary universes in which he combines iconographic elements such as cardboard paper, deep and unattainable seas and skies, gures that share space with the Pink Pan- ther, a chamber orchestra, a soloist or a philosopher, who are part of the Uruguayan artist’s palette of characters, including himself and his partner. They all cast this imaginary landscape often framed with curtains holding his canvases, turning his works into fragile scenarios.”

The artist sets his unequivocal personality dialoguing with his referents of Pop Art, Greco-Roman tradition or European painting. Lalanne, tenacious and disciplined, addresses our contemporaneity through the skills of the artisan, capturing “ the tangle of leaves of an olive tree or the shadows with complex light degradations”, tightening the fabric on the frame and varnishing it with that “obsessive care”, so characteristic of him.
