Open House is a welcoming and fun event open to all, offering people from the local area an opportunity to see the work of our students whilst taking part in free art and design workshops. Join our students and technicians and learn first hand how to: produce simple photographic images, try out screen-printing, make a simple pinhole camera and experiment with typography. In addition, this is a great chance to look round the Summer Shows following our map or with a tour guide.
All workshops are run and assisted by Camberwell College of Arts’ experienced tutors and students as well as recent graduates and alumni who come back to help out at this annual popular and fun day.
Now in its 11th Year, Open House has become a permanent feature on the Camberwell community’s events calendar. The day is hugely popular with local families, many returning year after year; some children return wearing T-Shirts they made the year before. Feedback from previous years’ events has been very positive:
“I really liked seeing parents bringing their children out and them all spending the day together. Listening to all their different stories was very warming.”
“Just got home and wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team - really well organised and great activities. The girls loved everything they did.”
“My girls are looking forward to next year already - they took their screen prints into school today!”
“A very good turn out and I think it's safe to say that screen printing was as popular as it's ever been.”
“I think Open House is a really positive and successful event as it opens its college doors up to everyone, sharing their facilities and promoting that community feel which Camberwell College of Arts is described well for having.”
“If we could only bottle that atmosphere.”
