About

----- POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ------

Hypatia has taken the decision to reduce the rising and significant risks of COVID-19 spreading to our staff, visitors and public by postponing the drop-in Open Archive Afternoon event this Saturday.

We hope this will assure everyone that we are taking everyone's health very seriously and that we will open our doors and re-arrange future dates for this event and others, as soon as we are given advice that it is safe to do so.

Do check out other online activities and updates on other upcoming events.

We wish you and your loved ones continued health and wellbeing in these challenging times.

Warmest regards from the Hypatia Trust

Thanks to funding from #CelebrateNationalLottery25 we're inviting everyone to come and find out what we're doing to preserve and document and promote women’s lives in Cornwall and join in free zine workshops with Camilla Stacey.

2-3pm find out what ‘zines’ are! Introduction to Zines with Camilla Stacey

3-5pm drop-in Zine workshop. Make your own zine using material from the Hypatia archive or bring any images of text you would like to use; make a simple one page zine to take away, copy or share.

There will also be tours with our lead archivist Maggi Livingstone or one of our amazing volunteer team. Meet some the fascinating women who exist in our archives or just relax with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

About Camilla Stacey: Camilla has been making zines for the last 25 years and has a bit of an addiction to cutting and sticking. Join her to learn just what a zine is, an introduction to their history and role in counter-culture through the ages and the making and distribution of them.

About Us: The Hypatia Trust was formed to collect, and make available, published and personal documentation about the achievements of women. Central to activities has been the care, development and re-distribution of the Hypatia Collection, a unique set of sub-collections of books, artefacts, and archives, by and about women. Find out where there are Hypatia archives (answer: all round the world!) and what is kept in
Chapel Street.
