About

Leicester Arts & Museums Service invites artists from across the East Midlands to submit their artworks to compete to be shown in the 2016 Open Art Exhibition.

A group of invited independent judges will select the very best works from the hundreds of works submitted. Including a wide range of artists including professionals, students and amateurs - showing traditional and cutting edge art in a wide variety of media. This year’s judges are: Chris Tyrer, Digital Manager, Phoenix Arts, Gillian McFarland, Artist and Gurdeep Sian, Independent Consultant and Curator.

We are grateful to all sponsors who support the Open exhibition. This year's sponsors include Leicester Print Workshop, LCB Depot, De Montfort Hall, Art House, Wilson Browne Solicitors, Phoenix, Soft Touch Arts, City of Leicester Museums' Trust and The Spark Arts for Children providing a range of prizes and opportunities for their chosen artists featured in the exhibition.

Now in its eighth year we have introduced a new age category, 5 - 10 years, to embrace the wonderful art work produced by this age group and to create a more varied exhibition for our visitors to experience. Any young person aged between 5 – 19 years old who lives, studies or works in the East Midlands.

Applications to the Open exhibition are now available online. deadline for submission is 5pm, Sunday 14 February 2016.
