On June 27, Friedman Benda will present Opacity, transparency, and everything in between, the second solo exhibition at the gallery by Lebanese designer Najla El Zein. The exhibition showcases the dedication, passion, and reflection required of true craftsmanship—allowing the essence and authenticity of the materials to show through.
Through her work, El Zein reflects on one’s initial perceptions, misunderstandings, and the necessity to decipher the layers beneath—as truth often lies between the lines. Featuring works in glass, ceramic, and stone, Opacity, transparency, and everything in between expresses the complexity of “everything in between” through the dimensions of time, space, materiality, light, reflection, use, touch, and emotions.
