Stay home and get creative this winter, experimenting with placement, negative space and surreal imagery to create your own collages.

Phoenix Art Space and tutor Deborah Manson are delighted to be able to offer this new online collage course. Over six weeks you will look to key artists and their ideas as inspiration for your own series of collages. Learn about composition, juxtaposition, layering and altered meaning. Experiment with placement, negative space, surreal imagery, mark-making, abstraction and text. Deborah will share her own passion for collage through demonstrations and a variety of playful and fun exercises encouraging you to explore the medium. Share your ideas, gain support from the group and begin to find your own style. During the sessions there will be time to experiment, play with materials and get feedback as you go along.

The course will be delivered over ZoomPadlet and Whatsapp. Deborah will begin and end the session via a group chat on Zoom and provide written information about the session and share pre-recorded video demonstrations on Padlet. Members of the group will be able to post comments, ask questions and send images of their work via Padlet. Deborah will give one to one feedback via Whatsapp. This creates a virtual experience very similar to that of an in-person creative class. Once signed up, you will be added to the Zoom group chat and Deborah will guide you from there.

Suitable for all levels including beginners/intermediate level with more in depth activities and projects for returning students or those with more experience.
