About

Save the date! Following the huge success of the 2020 Secret Postcard Auction, we're pleased to announce that this ever-popular event will return online in September 2021. This hotly anticipated fundraising auction offers the chance to purchase unique works of art by leading figures from the art and cultural world, while supporting the RWA as a registered charity.

Last year we were blown away by the support, as donations topped a whopping £107,608 - which was not only a vital contributor to our finances in the most challenging of years, it also enabled us to provide significant prizes for artists in our Annual Open Exhibition.

Each year there are hundreds of artworks to bid on and 2020 artists included Turner Prize winners Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Grayson Perry, Gilbert & George and Sir Richard Long. Plus, we had works from Royal Academicians - Norman Ackroyd, Frank Bowling, Brian Catling, Eileen Cooper, Anthony Eyton, David Nash and Emma Stibbon and many more!

All the artists are named, but who did which is secret, as artworks are signed on the back, not the front, so buyers either have to guess which works are by the big name artists or just buy what they like. Bidding on each work starts at just £40, which is a very reasonable price for a unique piece of art, and if it turns out to be by an internationally famous artist, it might just be the bargain of the century!

Artworks will be made available for bidding online for at least 10 days before the event: be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter to be among the first to know when they go live.
