Repeat Rewind Rephrase is a programme of events initiated by artists Natalie Marr and Daniella Valz Gen, that explores the different degrees in which creative practitioners engage with the wealth of performance practices that have come before.
From sampling, quoting and referencing to re-staging and re-interpreting, the programme seeks to explore a diversity of acts of appropriation. Ranging from concerns around liveness and physicality to the authenticity and experience of performance through documentation, the programme will explore various issues relating to this body of work both for the artist and audience.
Repeat Rewind Rephrase will run between 25th May and 15th June with a series of events. Please see below for more details. A publication will be produced in tandem with the programme and launched at the closing event on Friday 15th June.
Repeat Rewind Rephrase is generously supported by the IdeasTap Ideas Fund.
