About
Adele Vye's work is created from a deep need to act out and create live, the images that come to her. She intuitively draws on myth, situation and place through responsive live and documented actions. These are often performed and captured on camera and referred to as 'documented performance'. Vye's work might appear humorous and tragic on the surface, but the use of cloaks and other 'instruments' demonstrate a practice which references mythology, environmental issues and the summoning of energy. Vye will show a series of films, starting with the acclaimed On Wasting Energy (6 February ' 6 March 2010) which earned her the 'Welsh Artist of the Year 2009' for time-based work. Also showing is Steelworks Series (8 March ' 7 April 2010) , a response to the industrial landscape of her hometown, Port Talbot.A 'Test Bed' Exhibition, supporting new and experimental work by artists based in Wales and the Borders
