Acclaimed landscape painter Peter Kettle exhibits his new collection of paintings inspired by Oxfordshire

About

n January 2017, Sarah Wiseman Gallery presents brand new work by acclaimed young landscape painter Peter Kettle.

Inspired by the varied and rugged landscape of the British countryside, Peter Kettle is a young painter best known for his expressive, textured landscapes, most notably of his native Wales.

For his forthcoming solo exhibition at Sarah Wiseman Gallery, he  finds inspiration in the wide expanses and gentle hills of Oxfordshire. Beginning with a walk along the Glyme Valley Way from Chipping Norton to Woodstock, Peter will make a journey through the county, exploring the history and ancient lore of the land, taking in locations like Christchurch Meadow and Oxford itself. Attracted by the city's natural location, Peter's work lends itself well to its cobbled streets and verdant surroundings.

Peter immerses himself in a landscape by planning long walks, observing and making drawings along the way before returning to his studio to begin painting. His use of a variety of materials from oil paint to clay and acrylic results in paintings that are highly attuned to the landscape in all its senses from terrain to the weather elements.

Peter Kettle has been working with Sarah Wiseman Gallery since 2013. Seeing something special in his work, director Sarah Wiseman offered to show his work on the spot, to great success. Since then, he has created quite a buzz, having gone on to exhibit regularly with Sarah Wiseman Gallery and in many sell out shows around the country. In 2014 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA) He was identified as 'One to Watch'  by Moneyweek Magazine in the same year, describing his painting as an 'alchemy of light and landscape'.
Peter Kettle is certainly an exciting young talent on the rise in contemporary landscape painting.
