For this project, Oliver Sutherland (b. 1985, Cornwall) presents a new moving image work sited in a real-time fluid simulation, in which scraps of images, objects and texts are given agency through the physical properties of water. Sutherland’s durational work will be presented in the vitrine-like window of K4 Architects in Birmingham, reframing the work in the context of publicly visible space.
Oliver Sutherland has previously worked with Falmouth University and Centroid Motion Capture Studios in the development of moving image works that focus on the physical attributes of Motion Capture as a sculptural and object based performance. Sutherland was recently an associate artist as part of the Tate St Ives Artist Programme 2015, and is a recipient of the Spike Island Moving Image Bursary 2016.
