The portrait painting workshop will be taught by Lana Kanyo, who is an internationally recognized artist, art instructor and is a member of the prestigious Art Renewal Centre.
About
During the workshop students will enjoy the opportunity to study and to be inspired by the Rubens' original artworks in the Museum's "Rubens Room"! The balance of the day students will work in the museum studio and reproduce one of Rubens' best known portraits; the “Portrait of Elena Forman".The workshop will begin with an explanation of Rubens' technique and with a demonstration of mixing colors, organizing the palette, preparing mediums, and producing the mix of new colors. The class is designed to help students become confident when mixing colors only using Rubens' limited palette. You will learn that his pallet has a phenomenally broad range of color effects, and you will focus on both color harmony and the unity of light.
Your instructor will paint alongside you to provide a visual guide when learning the essential qualities of classical painting; accuracy, rhythm, light effect and the illusion of form and space.
The instruction will provide individual guidance and on that basis all levels of students are welcome.
