Monitor Lisbon is pleased to announce Office for Neanderthal Tourism & Crucifixion by Nathaniel Mellors.
For his first solo exhibition in Portugal the British artist will present his trilogy of video works centered around the figure of the Neanderthal: Neanderthal Crucifixion (2021), Neanderthal Container (2014), and The Sophisticated Neanderthal Interview (2013), together with a selection sculptures and absurdist paintings from his “BROW” series.
Nathaniel Mellors (b. 1974, Doncaster, UK) studied at the Ruskin School, Oxford University (1996–99) and the Royal College of Art, London (1999–2001). In 2007–09, Mellors was resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
