Off the Grid creates an art trail within the public space of the Merchant City, Glasgow with participating artists: Stephen Burke, Katrina Cobain, Supapong Laodheerasiri, Harry Maberly, Rebecca Thomson and Georgia Thornton Sparkes.
About
On Tuesday 14th August 2018, 3pm – 7pm, the Off the Grid van acts as the starting point for chosen locations within the city that are activated by artistic interventions. This meeting point is the place to collect a map, to book a seat to take with you along the trail, or to have a tour led by Exhibi-Lets.
The map is the floor plan to this open-air exhibition, guiding the audience to multi-disciplinary works, whilst encouraging the exploration of their environment. Everyday spaces are highlighted by the presence of these artworks; championing the ordinary yet also challenging the mundanity of the everyday.
Selected artists all play with convention within their practice: whether through the incorporation of humour into their work or exploring the dynamics between the institution, public space and art.
Specially devised tours by Exhibi-Lets will guide you around the area, informing you of the history of where you stand, and telling you about the artworks on the trail, and of course, the investment potential of each site.
To book onto a free tour, at either 4pm or 6pm, click here: https://bit.ly/2NSwBFl
Or prefer to sit down? Book a Seat allows you to rest those museum legs along the trail, giving you the freedom to view the works on your own terms or to rest as you navigate the public space.

If you wish to discover the artworks at your own pace, simply come and find the Off the Grid van located at Spoutmouth Car Park, G1 5AX (off of Gallowgate).
