OBSCURA is an exhibition and workshop programme at The Carousel, Nottingham. Obscura celebrates alternative, analogue photographic processes alongside supporting women photographers.
About
Running between 4th - 18th September, OBSCURA is a collaborative project between The Carousel and #Sheheartsfilm. #Sheheartsfilm is an Analogue Wonderland lead project, started by Emma Lloyd and Emily Jackson in March, 2021 to celebrate International Women’s Day. The project echoes the ethos of Analogue Wonderland - to make film photography fun and accessible for everyone - and aims to put a spotlight on female film photographers through the hashtag #Sheheartsfilm.
Alongside the #Sheheartsfilm exhibition, The Carousel will exhibit four contemporary women photographers; Amber Jesson, Amy Gladding, Kelly Barfoot and Pauline Woolley. This exhibition explores and discusses their specific processes within the photographic medium.
The OBSCURA workshop programme is your opportunity to learn some of the techniques you can see in the exhibition. With each workshop being led by one of the exhibitors you will gain further insight into their practise as well as getting involved with exploring and making your own work.
