We created stealing frames as a way to channel our artistic ideas and impulses into a visual form, particularly photography.
We wanted to challenge ourselves by finding ways to mesh our diverse background (i.e. illustration, motion graphics, videography, music production) - including our personal processes and techniques-into a cohesive union of art, which itself made by seperate interpretations of the same subject and environment in each given session.
Stealing Frames had its beginnings in the summer of '17 as a 5 member photography collective. Through mutal connections, we originally gathered for a single session meant to explore how we work together.
What could have easily been a discordant clash of styles and vision turned out to be a harmonious path of collaboration and creativity, waiting to be explored. Since then, working with one another in some shape or form as solidified how we inspire, influence, and evolve within the collective and within the realm of art. Not a year later, we've invite new members to stealing frames, in the hopes of growing our collective and allowing the abstractions of our work to be manifested in physical form, starting with OBSCURA.
