About
This display is of Māori taonga (cultural treasures) and reflects Lincolnshire links with New Zealand. Māori are the indigenous people of New Zealand and although of Polynesian descent, they have a distinct culture, which they sustain today. The Māori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa, which translates as the 'land of the long white cloud', hence the name for this display. There will also be some documents illustrating Lincolnshire's links with New Zealand.
To complement the display, there will be a selection of free Māori-related films shown at 2pm on 28th March, 4th April, 11th April and 25th April.
There will also be a free talk on the objects and Lincoln's links with Māori culture at 12.30pm on Friday 8th April and a Māori-related Activity Day on Tuesday 5th of April.
