The paintings, made on wood, are arranged in such a way to make the viewer feel watched by the wolf. A small installation is in the centre of the space – resembling remnants of the Little Red Riding Hood.
Certain natural colourfulness appears in my latest paintings. They have abandoned the urban environment, but there is still a night mood prevailing. We find ourselves in a space where questions arise and we might feel a bit scared as well...
The exhibition is more about the wolf than about “its” girl. The tale about Little Red Riding Hood has a Freudian interpretation – the motif of virginity; while the wolf symbolizes ambivalent mystery, which is luring and terrifying at the same time.
On the other hand we may see in the installation some symbolism of one's danger in today's society. Thoughts, ideas, bad dreams, nightmares and daymares. And the four-legged bare their teeth. But perhaps they're merely sneering.
I like the four-legged, I like the shaggy, I like wolves. Even the one that devoured the Red Hood. She flirted with him. What was he supposed to do ? It was his job description – the hunters' club acted unfairly.
The paintings on wood follow the series Dog-God-Good. The dog is only a footstep away from its ancestor with a beautiful name – Canis lupus. The predatory wolf roams in the dark, wild and free. It awakens the desire within to let oneself go and find our natural essence. There is strong atmosphere present – at midnight, by the full moon, some of us transform...
