About

Now My Eyes Can See

A stream of consciousness,

not resolved but questioning,

do you want to listen?

The box is opened,

she twirls to the mechanical tune

performing for an audience of one.

The voyeur holding the control of

non-consensual watching,

a secret in plain sight.

Edgar, why were you there?

The voyeur of the voyeurs,

yet complicit with your presence.

Hiding behind the anonymity of the screen,

our language betrays us,

where is misogyny on the pyramid?

But to escape the bloody chamber,

we need to scream,

because no one is listening.

Sally Minns 2023

Sally, received a commendation for her research-based practice during the Portrait Diploma. She was awarded a Scholarship by The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers, to complete The Post-Diploma in Figurative Painting, graduating in September 2022.

Sally's practice is rooted in research and observational drawing, from which she develops imagined narratives that raise debate around societal issues. Inspiration is found in multiple sources including current affairs, art history, literature, film, and music.

“For me, the act of painting is the crossroads where my drawing, inspiration, internal dialogue, and prevalent societal issues meet. It is a thinking space. A fully immersive experience of the process until the final representation becomes apparent. Through the application of paint and choice of imagery, my work explores themes of power and control, debating how global patriarchal structures propagate oppression, misogyny, and abuse”.

Open: 15 - 20 April from 11 am - 6 pm
