This November, NOW Gallery is celebrating its one year anniversary with a unique art-party themed NOW Later – a free evening of interactive film, music and art installations.
About
On 12 November 2015 from 6pm to 9pm, NOW Gallery, in collaboration with onedotzero and WorldWide FM, will present an evening of audio-visual interventions from the likes of Richard Hogg, David Hedberg, and ustwo, which question perceptions of the city and discuss themes of urbanism.
NOW Gallery will be transformed for the night with a series of interactive installations, immersive experiences and innovative screen-based work alongside live music performances, including sounds of South African electronica and hip hop music collective Christian Tiger School curated by new online radio station Worldwide FM.
Alex Chinneck's striking sculptural installation Straight jacket star jumps – the coiled, steel electricity pylon that fills the central gallery space – will be subjected to a dramatic transformation on the night through a dynamic lighting intervention.
The interventions will continue in the Tom Dixon-designed penthouse above the gallery, with a series of screen-based games and standalone interactive artworks and objects that complement the stunning design and reinterpret the intended experience of the specific living spaces. Smile TV, an interactive installation from David Hedberg, will occupy the lounge of the Tom Dixon penthouse, while the kitchen's cabinets will contain an unexpected surprise from global digital product studio, ustwo.
The gallery's in-house cinema, NOW Cinema, will present a 30 minute programme of short films and animations by innovative artists and filmmakers. The programme will explore our fascination with the city via an eclectic series of filmic responses to urban environments and fast-paced city living.
