About
This deluxe edition of NOVA NIGHTS is a collaborative affair between BILLY CHAINSAW and artists ADAM ESPIRA & MANKO, the curators of ‘ARROWS OF DESIRE’, a group art show celebrating the contemporary artist’s interpretation of Saint Sebastian: martyr, patron saint, queer icon – which runs at The Horse Hospital from 4 July – 21 July 2019.
Saint Sebastian has long been a source of fascination to artists, from his original religious context as a Roman martyr, through various incarnations as plague protector, sport patron to gay icon. His stark image of baroque suffering and defiance mixed with androgynous eroticism has had a particular impact on counter and sub culture groups.
NOVA NIGHTS EPISODE #19 will explore Saint Sebastian’s movie martyrdom.
