“The art world often has a habit of taking itself way too seriously, so my latest collection is designed to bring a smile to the face of the viewer in these difficult times. Notes to Self are inspirational little reminders about life that we may all know, but we sometimes forget. These paintings are the canvas equivalent of fridge magnets, but beautifully rendered and hanging on your living room wall."

Philip Michael Martin is a British painter. Originally from Sheffield, he lives in London and paints full time after a 30 year career in advertising. Many of the disciplines and craft he employed in that career can be found in his current work. Bold images that grab our attention. Acute understanding of composition. All rendered in Phil’s signature style. Part abstract. Part figurative. Often a blend of both. All laid out in glorious acrylic technicolour. The works are almost always on canvas, sometimes on board. He works with many different layers of paint, glue, oil and resin to build texture that gives the work a delicious physicality when seen in the flesh.  

 

Phil’s work is now collected internationally and is available both as original artworks and as signed, limited edition prints  from his website.
