Jackie Naffah is an author and accomplished painter with a very fertile mind which is reflected in her writing. While her paintings are intended as individual visual artworks that may be appreciated on their own merit, they can also be viewed in tandem with a written narrative created by the artist.
About
While it is possible to view a non-narrative painting only considering the skill of the artist, or the aesthetic quality of the artwork, it is human nature to ask ourselves more about the work. How did it come about, why did the artist paint this object, or that scene? While some paintings clearly give us a narrative and others appear non-narrative, we can always apply our own tale to the work.
In this exhibition, Jackie takes her artworks and enriches the viewing experience by creating a story to accompany the painting. Curated with just a hint of the artist’s narrative thus allowing you to view the work unencumbered. If you wish to enjoy the whole story it is available in a book of the same title. This marriage of image and word results in a unique and intriguing exhibition.
