Returning to the Corn Hall for his third solo exhibition, we are delighted to welcome back the celebrated Royal Academician Norman Ackroyd.
About
Norman Ackroyd is one of Britain’s foremost landscape artists whose skill is to evoke the atmosphere of place - the crags, the water and the weather - through the mastery of his chosen medium, aquatint. In critic John McEwen’s words, his work is a ‘celebration of grey’.
Each year Ackroyd produces a portfolio of etchings, usually focused on a particular area of the British Isles. In 2018 he revisited some familiar places and themes, often from some of the wilder areas of the country, which he has linked with favourite pieces of music and poetry. This series, appropriately called ‘Fragments’, will be the main feature of our exhibition.
Curator Jessica Vincent comments that “Ackroyd is one of the few artists who enjoy a respected position in the art world, but whose work strikes a chord with the public, and for collectors remains very affordable. “
The exhibition will also include Ackroyd’s etchings of the North Norfolk Coast, ‘Brancaster Roads’, and a group of new prints, which has been shown with his usual success, at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. All work will be for sale.
