About

About:

NoPlaceAart has invited 18 creatives to come together to create a group show displaying a range of contemporary creative disciplines inspired by the world they live in.

The eye looks at an artwork, and the mind conjures up questions to facilitate an understanding. The beauty of this is that the inherent subjectivity of the gaze allows for a personal interpretation of the artist’s vision; the very notion of meaning is dependent on one’s unique consciousness. This view should also be turned outwards, we should be ever aware, constantly questioning, both rationally and empirically, our gaze should be placed on the world around us. Have we stopped thinking? Have we stopped feeling? Are we doing enough questioning towards art and our world?

This exhibition aims to show the perceptions of the world through the eyes of 18 individuals. Each artist is tackling their own perceptions and understandings of the world they see. You can expect to see a multitude of different conceptual ideas, from architecture and the shifting geometric landscapes to emotions and the human connection, from the space landings of the 1970’s to the first ascent of Mount Everest, from the notions of memory to the feelings of travel, from the anxieties of technology to the tactility of surfaces, from the enigma of the digital revolution to the chance happenings of the process of creation. All of which helps to build an understanding of our environment.

NoPlaceArt asks you, the viewer, what do you see? how do you feel?
