Event map

This exhibition showcases a series of works inspired by research trips to rural Ireland and Arctic Norway.

About

The artist explored new and familiar landscapes, on foot, and by boat, hiking and camping in remote corners, spending time looking outward, in each place recognising different modes of being and the different perspectives offered by people and place. During these trips he took within himself some insights and practices that he still nurtures and which continue to permeate his work such as the ideas of journey and transition. The exhibition presents responses in two parts; through a photographic study of altered perspectives, and then a series of large scale drawings that combine extremes of minuscule, detailed and painstaking repetition with large gestural strokes, these pieces carry a physicality that depicts their contrasting modes of creation.
